20 Nov “Across Time!” – Staff Talent Show at Mount Vernon Towers
Directed by the inimitable Shelly Gianino, a resident at Mount Vernon Towers, the staff of the independent living community in the heart of Sandy Springs hosted a special evening for the other 300+ residents here. For two nights in a row, more than thirty employees put on a magnificent Talent Show called “Across Time.”
The performers, including a number of new staff members as well as employees who have been with Mount Vernon Towers already for more than ten years, prepared and practiced for months to be ready for the hour-long show. “Sometimes I would walk down the hall and hear music coming from the Sun Porch, and there was yet another group, practicing again,” says Angie Payne, Activities Director, who also participated in the show as ‘Grandma’ – she was the one being run over by a reindeer.
Mrs. Gianino did a great job coordinating the different acts and highlighting the talent and showmanship of the individual staff members, who consider the residents at Mount Vernon Towers as members of their own family. The employee talent show is certainly a unique way to show how much people enjoy working here, or as Angie notes, “…it is a great way to have fun and bring joy to our community.”
Allen and Joann Kolb, residents, sent a thank you note after the event and called it “the best show ever!” They wrote:
“We thoroughly enjoyed the production of Across Time and wish to thank all of the employee participants for their involvement, enthusiasm, and willingness to share their talent. The show for us was inspirational, uplifting, and entertaining.”
