29 Sep Eat Well and Be Well at Mount Vernon Towers
At Mount Vernon Towers, the dining room is often referred to as the heart of our retirement community. In addition to the excellent fresh meals that are served here daily, it is a great place to meet friends, share stories and rekindle memories.
Overseeing the dining room and all related dining services is Steve Hamilton, Mount Vernon Towers’ outstanding Director of Dining Services.
He makes sure that the residents at the retirement community in the heart of Sandy Springs enjoy delicious, healthy food every day. There are always fresh fruits and lots of vegetables on the menu, and new dishes, some that incorporate less fat or salt, are introduced regularly. “For good health and an overall feeling of well-being, a diet of fresh foods that limits sugar, fat and alcohol, plus a regular exercise regimen are important,” he notes.
Steve explains that as people age, it is not necessary to consume as many calories as before. At Mount Vernon Towers, Steve and his team, including Executive Chef Tom Burchell, encourage the residents to make the healthiest possible selections and try to incorporate a number of super foods into their diet. These super foods benefit everyone, including seniors:
