Nancy and Jim Kennedy: “The Easiest Place to Make Friends”

nancy and jim kennedyJim and Nancy Kennedy moved from their home near Peachtree Dunwoody Road into Mount Vernon Towers in May 2013. A year earlier, Jim had first raised the possibility of moving into the centrally located retirement community in the heart of Sandy Springs.

“We visited a number of different places throughout the metro Atlanta area,” says Nancy, “but when we walked into the front doors of Mount Vernon Towers, we knew we had found our new home. The warmth, the smiles, the whole atmosphere here made us feel welcome immediately.”

Jim agrees: “This is really like a small village. We continually run into people we already knew, or new people who’d like to get to know us better. Every week, we get together with a bunch of other couples for Chef Ira’s famous fried chicken dinner, and there are lots of interesting activities for us here. Mount Vernon Towers is just the easiest place to make friends!”

Thanks in part to the upswing in the local real estate market, the Kennedy’s were able to sell their original home to a builder who wants to develop their lot. “We’re delighted with the deal we made, and we believe that the purchase of our light and bright condominium in Mount Vernon Towers will prove to be a wise investment as well, especially when you consider the current development plans for the Sandy Springs area,” notes Jim.

“Our kids were enthralled with our decision to move here,” say the Kennedy’s, who share eight children between them. “One thing we’ve all noticed is that this community is such a well-oiled machine. The management team is experienced and totally engaged with the residents and the rest of the staff, and we’ve never heard even one negative comment from any of our new friends who have lived here longer.”

Jim, who has enjoyed tennis and golf all his life, appreciates Mount Vernon Towers’ exercise facility, and also uses the fitness programs at the nearby Benson Center. Nancy likes her completely renovated kitchen but also appreciates the dining facilities at Mount Vernon Towers. “Life is good here!”
