15 Jun Warm Hearts, Warm Meals
“There are some days that you just don’t feel up to sharing dinner in the Dining Room, but would rather eat in your own home – and that’s when Mount Vernon Towers residents can take advantage of the in-home meal delivery provided here,” explains Mrs. Davies. “However, we need a Heated Cart so that Dining Services can deliver these meals hot and fresh. Lukewarm won’t do!”
Steve Hamilton, Director of Food and Beverage, has researched a heated mobile cabinet priced at $5,000 that will fit into the elevators at Mount Vernon Towers. It is manufactured of stainless steel with space for 21 removable pans, and a top rail to hold salads, desserts and other items.
“Since fundraising needs a boost, I have come up with a unique approach that our friend Ralph would really have appreciated!” says Mrs. Davies. “I have reprinted my “Dining with Doris” cookbook. Everyone who donates $50 or more to the Heated Cart fund will get their own copy. The top six donors will also be invited to ‘Dine with the Davies.’ I love to entertain and we’ll plan a gourmet meal based on the recipes in my cookbook.”
Mrs. Davies compiled her treasured cookbook back in 2006 when her grandchildren were getting married and were asking for family recipes.
Thank you, Mrs. Davies, for this fun and delicious fundraising initiative!
