14 Apr Mount Vernon Towers Celebrates Thirtieth Anniversary
This month, Mount Vernon Towers, the senior community that offers gracious independent living for the young at heart located in the center of Sandy Springs, celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Mrs. Laura Snipes, one of the first residents who moved into ‘The Towers’ in April 1986, is celebrating 30 years of happy living here. She remembers how Mount Vernon Towers was comprised of just the A building, with 150 units, of which only 27 were occupied that first month.
“There was no “B” building yet, no mail room, and no dining room,” she recalls. “The hall carpets had not yet been delivered, and the elevators were not always working because of construction dust. Most days I walked up to my lovely condominium on the 8th floor– with groceries. We were true pioneers!”
Today, Mount Vernon Towers is one of Atlanta’s favorite retirement destinations. The 300+ units in “The Towers” are near world-class hospitals, major shopping and important traffic arteries. The own-or-rent condominium community offers top amenities, assisted living, a personal care center and, most importantly, a warm, neighborly feeling.
