20 May Mount Vernon Towers Welcomes U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson
The “town hall” meeting – starting at 1:30 PM – will also include a Question & Answer session with Senator Isakson. Sandy Springs’ Mayor Eva Galambos, Gabriel Sterling, City Council Member and Rusty Paul, Mayoral Candidate, are planning to attend the event.
Senator Isakson began his business career in 1967 when he opened the first Cobb County office of a small, family-owned real estate business, Northside Realty. He later served as president of Northside for 20 years, presiding over the company’s growth into the largest independent residential real estate brokerage company in the Southeast and one of the largest in America.
Senator Isakson entered politics in 1974 and served 17 years in the Georgia Legislature and two years as Chairman of the Georgia Board of Education. In 1999, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for the first of three terms before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, and was re-elected to the Senate in 2010.
Mount Vernon Towers regularly schedules these types of informational gatherings, though this is the first time a U.S. Senator will pay a visit. Last year, Tom Price, U. S. Congressman (Sixth District) as well as a number of gubernatorial candidates met with the residents. Prior to and during every election season, local elected officials enjoy meeting the residents and discussing their platforms.
“We are honored by Senator Isakson’s visit, and I am sure that it will be standing room only,” said Tommy Miller, Executive Director of Mount Vernon Towers.
