Testimonial from Aloe Greeson

To call Aloe Greeson ‘active’ is an understatement. After inheriting a two-bedroom, two-bath home from her mother-in-law and moving into Mount Vernon Towers in 2000, she has served as a ‘Floor Rep’ welcoming new residents and making them feel at home. In addition, she worked for eight years on the community’s Board of Directors, and she continues to volunteer with Northside Hospital in its outreach programs. Aloe’s true passion, though, is to direct ‘The Melodears,” the Mount Vernon Towers’ singing group.

After teaching music for more than thirty years in the Atlanta Public School System, Aloe finds directing seniors just as much fun. “Right now, we are preparing a show of all Broadway songs.”

“When we helped my husband’s mother find a suitable home, we never dreamed that we would move here, but then she left us her condominium and we were ready to embrace the independent living lifestyle. The well-run facilities and the gracious staff, in particular the creative activity directors, impressed us from the beginning.”

Aloe, now a widow, is delighted that her old college roommate from Georgia State College in Milledgeville also moved to Mount Vernon Towers. “We have dinner together every night, and our friendship is a treasure.”

For years, Aloe has been traveling all over metro Atlanta with Northside Hospital, performing in puppet shows that teach schoolchildren about doctor visits and drug and alcohol prevention. She also volunteers in the hospital on the front desk.

“I am very happy here. I love the location of Mount Vernon Towers: convenient to shopping, close to my church in Sandy Springs and to Northside Hospital. It’s also not too far from my daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who, by the way, love to come visit and play in our splendid pool!”
