“Our Gift To You!” – Staff Talent Show at Mount Vernon Towers

Again this year, the staff at Mount Vernon Towers decided to host a special evening for the 300+ residents of the independent living community in the heart of Sandy Springs. For two nights in a row, more than thirty employees put on a magnificent Talent Show that they appropriately called “Our Gift to You!”

“Many of our employees have been at Mount Vernon Towers for more than ten years, and they consider the people who live here as part of their own family. The staff has been working on this show for more than four months, and every year I am so amazed by their talent and showmanship. They are awesome!” says Tommy Miller, Executive Director – who served as Master of Ceremonies and closed the show with a marvelous rendition of Ray Charles’ “Drown in my Own Tears.

MVT Staff Stars included Hauwa Adbulkareen, Nancy Alexander, Dyon Barnes, Yvonne Carter, Paul Christian, Jim Davis, Mario Deloney, Tabatha Eluma, Xavier Fallins, Cindy Hewlett, Cis Imbornone, Deloris Johnson, Angie Jones, Sean Kidd, Veronica McKibbens, Josh Miller, Nick Myrick, Martin Nolasco, Iristeen Petty, Kendall Smith, Rachel Tallie, Gerald Watson and Mary Webb.

“I actually don’t know who is having a better time, our great staff or our great residents. This is such a unique way to show, ‘we really like working here, and we really like our friends at Mount Vernon Towers,'” according to Miller.

Some of the many highlights of the evening included Mario singing “Tell It Like It Is,” “Love You, I Do,” performed by Mary, Rachel, Tabatha, Veronica and Yvonne, Iristeen’s beautiful version of “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” and of course, “Shout!” with Josh, Dyon, Kendall, Mario, Nick, Sean and Xavier.

“Great fun! We cannot wait until next year’s show,” smiled Ralph and Janet Marion, residents at Mount Vernon Towers since 2006.
