“As a small token of our sincere appreciation for the entire team of super professionals at Sandy Springs Fire Station #2, we are treating all of them to a special dinner,” says Chris Peterson, Executive Director of Mount Vernon Towers, the retirement community in the heart of Sandy Springs. Providing a special holiday dinner for the firemen and EMT’s has been a Mount Vernon Towers tradition for more than fifteen years, a way to say ‘Thank You’ for their quick and effective responsiveness to the people at Mount Vernon Towers.

On December 21, 22 and 23, the chefs at the independent living complex of more than 300 condominiums on Mount Vernon Road will prepare a fabulous dinner including prime rib and lobster-stuffed flounder for the men and women who are always ready to lend a helping hand.

“Whenever they come out to assist one of our residents, they are always so kind and caring,” notes Chris. “Whether or not it is an emergency, they are quick, knowledgeable and professional, and we want to thank them for their assistance year-round.”

The special holiday meal is planned and coordinated by Steve Hamilton, Mount Vernon Towers’ Director of Dining Services. “We enjoy doing this for our local heroes,” he explains.

Since January 2015, Steve has overseen the kitchen and dining room staff at Mount Vernon Towers. He says: “Our team, including Executive Chef Ira McClure and Kitchen Manager Eulla Stewart, prepares and serves some 5,000 meals per month, not counting employee meals. We also plan the menus for the many special events at Mount Vernon Towers and can cater major birthday parties or any other family gathering hosted by the residents, in all some 200 special events per year.”
