Meet Steve Hamilton, Director of Dining Services

Hamilton-headshot-smThe dining room is the heart of the Mount Vernon Towers retirement community. In addition to the excellent fresh meals served here daily, it is a great place to meet friends, share stories and rekindle memories.

Overseeing the dining room and all related dining services is Steve Hamilton, Mount Vernon Towers’ newly-appointed Director of Dining Services.

Steve was born and raised in Brockport, NY, a suburb 20 minutes west of Rochester, NY. After graduating with a BS Degree in Biology from Brockport State University, he moved to Atlanta in 1995 to join Westin Perimeter in Atlanta, and was quickly promoted to restaurant and bar manager. He joined the W Hotel at Perimeter as the Food and Beverage Manager, but in 2005, the same year he married his wife Marlene, Steve returned to the Westin Perimeter as the Director of Food & Beverage.

Following a number of upward career changes, all in hospitality management functions, Steve decided to accept his current position at Mount Vernon Towers.

In addition to describing his responsibilities as Director of Dining Services, he explains: “Our team, including Executive Chef Ira McClure and Kitchen Manager Eulla Stewart, prepares and serves some 5,000 meals per month, not counting employee meals. We also plan the menus for the many special events at Mount Vernon Towers and can cater major birthday parties or any other family gathering hosted by the residents, in all some 200 special events per year.”

“This position is a new challenge for me, and I enjoy the opportunity to use my hospitality background to benefit the residents of Mount Vernon Towers,” he says. “After many years in the hotel business, I also was ready to spend more time with my family, including our daughter Brianna. Working here, where the hours are a bit less crazy, offers me a better quality of life.”

Steve is a certified master mixologist, and loves football and traveling (especially to Ireland and Scotland). Welcome to Mount Vernon Towers, Steve!
