Executive Chef, Thomas Burchell, creates savory chef inspired meals under the management of Steve Hamilton, Assistant Executive Director of Facility Operations and Director of Human Resources. We are proud to have these two men working together serving our community!
Mr. Hamilton has had a unique and diverse background leading teams & departments in a wide range of hospitality positions, including on premise food & beverage services in boutique, upscale hotel brands like the W Hotel and larger hotel chains like Westin & Marriott to large full-scale catering facilities like Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and Wolfgang Puck at the Georgia Aquarium.
Senior communities are changing the way in which they provide meals to the residents that live there.
What we are seeing is an evolution of the dining experience, one that provides alternatives to the traditional methods of senior living and dining. People entering into seniors communities today want their dining to be an experience and this means changing how we provide services to them and the quality of the product we offer. In turn it also means offering some uniquely different places for them to dine. Many of the newer builds are offering café’s, fine dining, casual dining, coffee shops, bistros & pubs. For Mount Vernon Towers to be competitive and ensure that our owners are getting the most market share for their condos and to improve our product we have had to adapt to compete. In 2017 we renovated our restaurant, Table 300, to reflect the modern feel of the upscale casual dining experience while still holding onto the warmth our residents have been used to. Unlike newer builds, we do not have the luxury to create many unique dining spaces without spending a lot of money so we incorporated into the restaurant a coffee & dessert bar, called The Sweet Spot. This is a fun space where people can grab an espresso and a piece of cake or an ice cream cone and just kick back and relax. It has been a big hit with the community”.
